Coronavirus (COVID 19) Update

We have tried our best to stay open to the public for as long as possible. We understand that Sunderland Mind is a lifeline to some people, especially those who are socially isolated. We will still be offering support via the telephone, text and online support through email and our social media. Current guidelines dictate that some of our staff will need to work from home to offer this support, our main office will be running on skeleton staff, and phones will be answered from Monday to Friday, between the hours of 10am and 2pm

Your health and safety is really important to us, so we have been following the NHS’s guidance on how we should be responding to Coronavirus. In the light of this advice, we have decided that, as from Monday (Monday 23rd March 2020) we are suspending all face-to-face services to the public, including 1-2-1 support, all groups and activities.

You can see the NHS advice here https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/

Coronavirus is dominating headlines around the world. While the media focus is on the impact on people’s physical health and what’s being done to prevent the spread of the disease; anxiety about the virus can also have an impact on people’s mental health and wellbeing. Several organisations have released useful articles to help you look after yourself during this time, which includes helpful and practical tips to help you with everyday life. https://wellbeinginfo.org/coronavirus-mental-health-and-we…/

Elefriends is a supportive online community, a safe place to listen, share and be heard. https://www.elefriends.org.uk/

So many people are working incredibly hard at the moment to keep our communities safe, we have been overwhelmed by the support offered by people wanting to help. Events are moving very quickly and so we will continue to monitor the situation closely, reviewing developments and the latest government advice to consider how this affects our services. If the advice from the Government or NHS England changes, we will respond accordingly.

Keep an eye on our social media; we will do our best to keep in touch with you at this difficult time.
