Space 2 Talk is Sunderland Mind’s dedicated, trauma informed counselling service for young people. It provides confidential, appointment-based support and is part of our Family Mental Health Support. Referrals are accepted from parents and professionals.

How It Works

  • The first appointment helps determine if counselling is the best option.
  • A parent or carer must remain on-site during sessions.
  • We work closely with young people to agree on next steps and additional support if needed.

Criteria

Our Space 2 Talk service work with young people as they face a range of issues including, Anxiety, Stress, Low Mood and Bereavement.

Whilst we support young people struggling with Emotional Based School Absence (EBSA) and those with ASD, ADHD and some learning difficulties, we are not a specialist service for this provision. We will work together to make sure clients get the right support for their needs.

We do not currently offer a forensic counselling service, we may need to delay working with a young person until legal proceedings are concluded.

Private referrals are also welcome, please get in touch to discuss this further with our team.

Confidentiality & Safeguarding

Counselling sessions are confidential. However, if a young person discloses that they or someone else is at risk, we may need to share information to ensure safety. In such cases, we will aim to discuss this first and explain what will happen next.
