Counselling

Sunderland Mind’s Counselling Service has been well-established for over 10 years.  We provide counselling in GP surgeries across the city and in our Wellbeing Hub.

The term ‘Counselling’ is sometimes used to refer to Talking Therapy. This gives you the opportunity to talk about any experiences or events that have been affecting your thoughts and the way you feel.  Counselling can help with depression, anxiety, stress, relationships, change, loss, eating disorder, work-related stress, and distressing traumatic events and more

In order to access our counselling service, you can self-refer to us by contacting 0191 565 7218 from Monday – Thursday 10am – 4pm and Friday 9am-1pm. You can also complete and email our Counselling Self-Referral Form to admin@sunderlandmind.co.uk.

You can also self refer directly to Sunderland Psychological Wellbeing Service on 0191 566 5454 between the hours of 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday. You can also complete their online self-referral form here.

You will be provided with a counselling contract upon starting your first session. Here it is outlined that our service offers 6 sessions and reviewed depending on your needs.

Sunderland Mind Counselling Service is an accredited service with BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy). This means the standards and ethics of this national regulatory professional body are upheld.

If you have any questions regarding our counselling service please contact our Counselling Co-ordinator Jean Walker via jean@sunderlandmind.co.uk. or 0191 565 7218
