The Ryan Castle Foundation
Our counsellor Lorraine Whitfield has been busy building an incredible charity, The Ryan Castle Foundation, in memory of her son Ryan. The Ryan Castle Foundation has now launched and are offering free of charge counselling to individuals aged 18-40 diagnosed with a terminal illness, and their loved ones. It is a countrywide offer so the service is available to anyone who needs it. Check out the information regarding the offer below.
- Up to 12 free of charge counselling sessions per client who is diagnosed with a terminal illness.
- Up to 12 free of charge counselling sessions for a loved one. If there are 2 or more loved ones who require counselling, these are divided between them, as they feel appropriate.
- Family members will not see the same counsellor, for confidentiality and impartiality reasons.
- Clients are to self refer, making contact with the Ryan Castle Foundation through phone or email.
- The counsellor chosen for the client will contact the client to arrange sessions.
- If the client has any concerns, they may call the Ryan Castle Foundation at any time.
- Each client (or group of loved ones) receives up to 12 counselling sessions. This may be in person, online, or via telephone at a duration of 50 minutes. The frequency of sessions is to be agreed between the counsellor and the client, depending upon their unique situation. For example, a loved one may want 6 sessions before the death and six sessions after the death. A client may want 4 sessions weekly to support them through their diagnosis, then the remainder every couple of months for the remainder of their life. We are entirely flexible.
The Ryan Castle Foundation have also shared ‘As a new charity, we are now ready for clients, so finding ways to spread the word is essential. Out there, somewhere, is a client who desperately needs support.
We also need more self employed counsellors to volunteer. We may not have clients yet, but when we do, we don’t want to keep them waiting.
Financial donations
Money is the root of all evil, but it can also do magical things. We have a donation page on the website, as well as a GoFundMe page. If anyone would like to donate, we would be extremely grateful. The smallest donations all add up, and they mean the world to us.’
